A relic of the heart of Blessed Carlo Acutis will be taken to several Churches in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium this month, to offer the faithful an opportunity to venerate the future Saint. On Sunday, 21 July, the first leg of the journey, the relic will be available for veneration in the Church of the Holy Spirit at the Viktualienmarkt in Munich, which for several years now has also been home to a relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis’ hair, stored in a disused tabernacle in one of the side altars.

The Parish priest of the Holy Spirit Church, Fr Daniel Lerch, said he was expecting the participation of large crowds of young people, as veneration of the young Blessed has become widespread in Germany. He noted that 133 young parishioners have committed to praying one hour each week for the Blessed. Following Munich, Fr Gaballo, who is the custodian of the relic for this journey, will take the relic to four more places of worship in Germany: Weltenburg Monastery, Cologne Cathedral, Saint Clemens in Berlin, and the Holy Cross Church in Neugraben, Hamburg. It will then proceed to the Netherlands and Belgium.

Blessed Carlo Acutis’ relic is currently in a specially-designated reliquary chapel in the Indiana Convention Center where the National Eucharistic Congress is underway.
